Having played through every mainline entry, Assassin's Creed Origins still stands out. Its unique setting in Egypt helps set it apart from the rest of the franchise, as does its "back to basics" approach of showcasing the early history of the Assassin Brotherhood.
The thing is, Origins is a 2017 game, and it hasn't gotten much love as of late, at least officially. Over on YouTube, modder Digital Dreams showcased just how good Assassin's Creed Origins looks with the right modifications.
Titled "Assassin’s Creed Origins 8K – RTX 5090 Extreme Raytracing Ultra settings," we get to see what Assassin's Creed Origins looks like fully modded, with the UI turned off. As expected, the sands of Egypt are beautiful, as are the impressive canyons and inhabited areas.
The foliage in particular looks stunning and stands out among the unique architecture of Origins. It really showcases how fantastic Origins looked even at the time, and how it holds up. The fact that Ubisoft consulted with historians more than any other entry before it is clear, especially in the context of its educational mode.
