It might've seemed like Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were mostly being ignored on Switch 2, especially regarding backwards compatibility, but that doesn't appear to be the case any longer. Thanks to the latest firmware update on Nintendo Switch 2, both Pokémon games seem to have their problems resolved.

The latest version of the Switch 2 firmware (21.2.0) included fixes for a few games, but Pokémon fans should be delighted that BDSP's crashing problems through backwards compatibility are now reportedly fixed (shoutout to NintendoEverything for reporting this). So if it's been a while since you tried either game on Switch 2, you might want to jump back in.

Unless you tried playing the Switch 1 version of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on Switch 2, you might not have known about this problem at all. Both games were prone to crashing, and while it didn't make the Switch 1 versions of BDSP totally unplayable, it was widespread enough that plenty of people complained about it online.

Thankfully, that's all been resolved by the latest firmware update. The Switch 1 versions of both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl seem to run fine on Switch 2 now. So,...
