Hype around a potential Half-Life 3 announcement has started to wind down after multiple disappointments throughout 2025. Rumors suggested that players would get a surprise reveal of the highly-anticipated third game at various points over the past year, but obviously nothing ended up panning out.

However, there's a brand-new Half-Life adventure available for download right now, with the official 2026 version of the Black Mesa: Military mod allowing players to experience the original Half-Life game through the eyes of a marine (via ModDB). Players take on the role of the "bad guys" in an effort to secure the Black Mesa Research Facility and stop Gordon Freeman, and it's the perfect way for fans to start the year off right.

Half-Life fans have a super exciting new mod to check out with Black Mesa: Military's 2026 update officially available for download now. The mod has been in development for some time, and has grown substantially since its first iteration back in 2018.
