The Dark Souls franchise is going to make an unexpected return this February, and it’s a fan-made event to keep the series alive while FromSoftware doesn’t issue a new sequel. Since its release, FromSoft’s first souls game, Demon Souls, revolutionized action RPGs as we know them – so much so that “soulslike” is considered a genre to many. There haven’t been any signs of an upcoming Dark Souls 4, for example, so fans are returning to what they know.
As was shared by user wfmctr on Reddit, fans of the series are planning a return to Drangleic, the setting for Dark Souls 2. This is mostly a call-to-arms from a Dark Souls 2 fan to others, incentivizing them to play the title, originally released in 2014, once again. The post encourages players to create a brand-new character from scratch and tackle the adventure, “engaging in as much jolly cooperation as possible.”
