The Lord of the Rings is easily one of the most iconic fantasy franchises of all time, with its expansive lore and vast number of different settings, characters, and factions offering countless potential for gaming adaptations. Even if it's still far from an official announcement about the next major TLOTR game, that hasn't stopped fans from getting excited about the upcoming project from the limited leaks we've had so far.

An upcoming Lord of the Rings game was leaked by Insider Gaming all the way back in October of last year, and fans like Turbostrider27 on Reddit were quick to share the news. This project will apparently be a new third-person action game designed to "compete with Hogwarts Legacy." Given that the leak only said that a deal was in progress at the time, it's likely a long time until we ever get to play it for ourselves.
