Although Steam has long been a marquee third-party marketplace, it's easy to forget that Valve also occasionally releases first-party games on it. Alongside Counter-Strike and Half-Life is Valve's arguably other biggest release, Team Fortress 2.
Over on Steam, you can pick up a new version of it that just recently dropped. So far, it's getting "very positive" reviews and seems to uphold the legacy of the series.
Released this past week, Team Fortress 2 Classified is a "new Team Fortress 2 experience" built on the original and isfree-to-play. It contains refreshed visuals, new game modes, and more maps, weapons, and teams. Crafted by Eminoma, it's already getting raves on Steam, and is sitting at "very positive" ratings with several thousand reviews. Notably, Classified also offers extensive mod support, including visual modification support and custom weapon packs andmap servers.
The aim is also to incorporate "lost" concepts into Classified, such as the nail gun, dynamite pack, and tranquilizer gun. They've also been modernized, so they're not exactly the same as the old content and feel good to play in 2026.
