Stardew Valley 1.7 Gets Surprise Official Update

Stardew Valley's 1.7 update is still a ways away, but creator Eric Barone, AKA ConcernedApe, has offered a few new tidbits on what to expect. Despite releasing nearly a decade ago, Stardew Valley continues to receive major updates, even as ConcernedApe works on his next game Haunted Chocolatier.

In an interview with IGN, ConcernedApe teased "two more marriage candidates" in Stardew Valley's 1.7 update, along with an overhaul of the game's pproach to children. The planned update for children will apparently be in response to "a popular fan request." He also teases the possibility of a farm map editor, but clarifies that he doesn't know if it will happen or not.

All three features that ConcernedApe mentions could be big improvements for Stardew Valley. While the game has no shortage of marriage candidates as things stand, adding more could inject new life into the game for those who have spent years playing it. A new approach to children also makes the endpoint of marriage more interesting, as there currently isn't much reason to actually have them in-game.
