Next-Gen Xbox Console’s Launch Window Potentially Revealed

A "next-gen Xbox" was mentioned briefly during AMD's latest earnings call. During the call, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su stated that the next Xbox is using an AMD semi-custom SoC (system-on-a-chip) and that the console is currently planned for release in 2027.

Xbox announced a "strategic multi-year partnership" with AMD back in June 2025. In this initial announcement, Xbox President Sarah Bond confirmed that the company was working with AMD on its lineup of next-generation hardware including PC, handheld, Cloud, and console. However, Xbox and AMD's relationship goes much further back, with both the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X/S using AMD processors.

Xbox continues its multiplatform approach by publishing two more games on competitor PlayStation 5 this month.

As first reported by Insider Gaming's Robert DeFelice, AMD hosted its Q4 2025 earnings call on February 3. During the call, CEO Dr. Lisa Su discussed the current video game landscape and how AMD fits into it.
