A remake of The Witcher has been on the horizon since 2022, but if the latest report is to be believed, it still isn't coming any time soon. It's currently a busy time for the Witcher franchise, with The Witcher 4 also in the works, along with a rumored DLC for The Witcher 3.

According to The Witcher 4 News on X, Polish investment bank Noble Securities has reported that The Witcher remake has been delayed until 2028. Developer Fool's Theory is currently assisting with the production of The Witcher 4, putting the remake on the back burner. Notably, Fool's Theory is also rumored to be working on the alleged Witcher 3 DLC, so the studio may have a part in every upcoming Witcher project.

When The Witcher remake was first announced, it seemed like a logical stopgap before The Witcher 4, giving fans who had never played the original a new way to experience CDPR's first story with Geralt. Now, it seems like The Witcher 4 will debut first. The alleged delay is a disappointment to some, like X user PThrizzle, who notes that they would prefer the opposite release order.
