Valheim has been trucking along since 2021, when it hit PC in early access. Since then, it's been expanded to Xbox platforms, and now it's hitting something else entirely.
Announced during the latest Nintendo Direct, Valheim is slated for the Nintendo Switch 2 very soon.
The survival genre took off some time ago, with games like Rust and ARC taking the world by storm. In 2021, Valheim joined the fray from Iron Gate Studio and Coffee Stain Publishing, where it's remained a mainstay of the genre ever since.
If you've never played Valheim before, the description will give you an idea of what to expect: "A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by Viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage."
In short, you'll traverse this "brutal exploration" survival adventure solo or with nine other people. Construction is a big part of the game, Minecraft-style, as you'll gather resources and build Viking architecture. "Gather, craft, survive" is the name of the game in Valheim.
Interested? Well, it's coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this summer. While we don't have an exact release date...
