During the February State of Play from Sony, Konami officially announced a brand new Castlevania that will be canon in the series. It stars a Belmont, as the full name of the game is Castlevania: Belmont's Revenge. The game will be a two-dimensional, platforming action game like the original series, but looks to be more fast-paced. This is the first major Castlevania game from Konami since Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate. That game launched on the 3DS and was ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. By the way, Castlevania: Belmont's Revenge is due to release later this year.

The gameplay trailer shows Trevor Belmont using both a whip and a sword. The art work is colorful and the gameplay is fast. Wall jumps, rope swings and special attacks are all apparent in the trailer. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch. The artwork leans towards the style of the Hades series, but it will be fully two-dimensional and not feature polygons like the previous version.
