A senior Warner Bros. Discovery official may have hinted that Hogwarts Legacy 2 could release in 2027 or 2028. What's more, the Hogwarts Legacy sequel may not be the only high-profile Warner Bros. game to launch during that period.
Avalanche Software's first open-world RPG set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter launched in February 2023, becoming one of Warner Bros.’ most significant recent successes in the video game sphere. A subsequent job listing suggested that Hogwarts Legacy 2 started development no later than July 2024. Two months later, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels said that developing a successor to the hit 2023 game was one of the company's "biggest priorities" in the medium term. Although the group has since streamlined its video game operations, closing some studios and narrowing its strategy, all signs point to Hogwarts Legacy 2 remaining part of its plans.
