A new report has just leaked the details about a once-planned Bloodborne remake, but it's bad news for those anticipating a Bloodborne comeback. FromSoftware's iconic Gothic horror game has been stuck without a proper PS5 upgrade or port for years, and by the sound of it, one opportunity to fix the situation has officially been shut down.
As reported by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, former Sony subsidiary Bluepoint Games pitched a Bloodborne remake in 2025. While "the numbers made sense," FromSoft apparently felt differently. Last week, Sony announced the closure of Bluepoint, putting a definitive end to any lingering possibility of a Bluepoint Bloodborne remake.
Bluepoint previously handled the PS5 remake of FromSoft's Demon's Souls, which released to market success and general acclaim. Nonetheless, the remake also received criticism for changes to the art design of Demon's Souls, which critics argued watered down the original game's striking atmosphere.
Based on Schreier's report, there's a chance that FromSoft president Hidetaka Miyazaki may be one of those critics.
