Earlier this month, it was revealed that the original God of War trilogy would finally be receiving a remaster, bringing Kratos' journey across Ancient Greece to the modern day. In recent years, many of us discovered the God of War franchise for the first time after the launch of the God of War reboot and its sequel, God of War Ragnarök, in 2018 and 2022 respectively.
However, what many do not realize is, before Kratos was a father traveling through a land interwoven with Norse mythology, he was a Spartan warrior who went head-to-head with the most formidable Greek gods. It is this story that is being remastered thanks to the God of War Trilogy Remastered.
After being unveiled at February's Sony State of Play event by original Kratos actor T.C. Carson, we now know that God of War, God of War II, and God of War III will be arriving in a remastered bundle some time in the future in celebration of the Santa Monica Studio's franchise's 20th anniversary. However, with development still in the early stages, we can expect the brand-new trilogy to launch in 2027 at the earliest.
