Hogwarts Legacy proved to be an absolute smash-hit for Warner Bros. gaming division, blowing past the already lofty expectations they had for the game to become one of the most successful releases of the last five years.
It still serves as the third most-played single-player game on the PlayStation 5, in terms of raw hours, and fans continue to return to its open world today, particularly to the PC version, where mods have breathed new life into the title.
As such, it's little surprise that the company is looking to capitalize on that popularity further, and ideally as soon as possible. The developer moved on from the original some time ago, without providing anything in the way of official DLC that players might usually expect for a game of that size.
They are now well underway with work on the sequel, and it's set to be a vastly different offering to the first game. Despite all of that ambition, and the relatively long development cycles that AAA games go through in the modern era, it could be arriving in 2027, and that might not be the good news it first appears to be.
