Resident Evil Requiem has taken the internet by storm since it released last week, being met with a massive wave of positive reactions from both fans and first-time players. Capcom's latest offering broke several records shortly after release, although players aren't convinced that the latest one will stick around for too long.

As noted by Insightwastaken on X, Resident Evil Requiem skyrocketed to the number one spot on Metacritic's rankings for user-scored games, beating out the title from 2025's well-earned Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. While the score has since been reduced to 9.4 to put it just underneath Expedition 33's 9.5 at the time of writing this article, players are unsure of where exactly the game will end up over the next few weeks.
