Rumors about a remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag have been flying for months, but Ubisoft never officially acknowledged the supposed project until now. Its new title was even revealed to be Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced when a domain registration was discovered in January 2026, with many hoping a reveal was imminent. A rumored delay to the remake shortly thereafter has dashed hopes of an imminent release, but at least Ubisoft has, kind of, announced the game now.
In a blog post about the future of Assassin's Creed at large, Ubisoft revealed concept art (below) of Black Flag protagonist Edward Kenway, with the remake's title and logo in the corner. The AC developer and publisher gives a wink and a nudge to the rumor mill, saying, "Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: 'Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.' Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon."
