The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, for many fans of the franchise, is still the best game it has ever produced. Though the N64 version has certainly aged over the years, the balance between fun level design, an enthralling story, and clever mechanics defined everything the series is and would be for decades to come.

Since its original release, Nintendo has released other versions of the game for later consoles, and it's those that are likely to get more active play from players these days. At the same time, PC emulation has made it much easier for fans to play at home, but just make sure you own a legit copy before taking that approach.

The elephant in the room is that, between the Switch and Switch 2, a new version of Ocarina of Time hasn't seen the light of day. So could that be happening, and is it something that people really want or need?
