Bandai Namco Reveals New RPG Based On Massive Anime Franchise

Bandai Namco has just revealed a new RPG based on Sword Art Online, the massively popular multimedia franchise that takes place in a virtual reality MMORPG. While SAO started as a light novel series, it expanded to become a popular anime series with a long succession of tie-in games. The most recent title, Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, was an anniversary celebration game that focused on co-op raid battles.

Echoes of Aincrad, unveiled in a trailer on the official Bandai Namco YouTube channel, is set to be the next Sword Art Online game. The trailer highlights a threat to the world of Aincrad and a chance to take on the personal role of a hero in that setting. Echoes of Aincrad will release on July 10, 2026, with pre-orders starting now.
