Steam Machine Release Window Update Is Music To Our Ears

There's been a lot of back-and-forth on when we can expect to see the Steam Machine, but the latest update from Valve is promising. While Valve showed off plenty of Steam Machine details last November, including all the key hardware specs for the living room PC, information on price and release date has been harder to come by. After initially suggesting an early 2026 release window, Valve started to use more hedging language, raising fan concerns that the release date could slip into 2027.

Yesterday, Valve updated a Steam blog post to confirm that "all three products" — the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller — will indeed be shipping in 2026. This followed an earlier version of the post that said the company "hope[d] to ship in 2026." In a statement to The Verge, a Valve PR representative said that "nothing has actually changed" on the company's end.

To be clear, there's still no guarantee that Valve will be shipping any products particularly soon. In a February Steam update, Valve explained that the current memory and storage shortages have delayed the announcement of "concrete pricing and launch dates."
