The Legend of Zelda franchise has been through a lot of different eras over the years, with a ton of different art styles, approaches to gameplay, and narrative paths, with some evidently proving considerably more successful than others along the way.
As we continue apace through the Nintendo Switch 2 era, it remains unclear what comes next for the legendary series. Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom certainly proved that the formula used in both is popular with fans and critics alike, and with the increased power of the Switch 2, the world is the developer's oyster.
That said, there's no reason that they couldn't change things once again, and the preferred path for the next game's aesthetic is already proving to be divisive with fans.
