Microsoft Reveals More Details on Next-Generation Xbox Console "Project Helix"

While it is nowhere near releasing, it seems Microsoft and Xbox are opening up more and more to talking about their next-generation console, codenamed Project Helix. Fans should keep all expectations in check, as talk now does not always equate to reality later, and this is by no means talk meant to push or sell Xbox consoles to consumers. Instead, the most recent messaging is aimed at developers.

While rumors of the next Xbox console had surfaced sparsely in recent months, the first public acknowledgment of Project Helix by Xbox and Microsoft happened earlier this March by new Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma, following Phil Spencer's recent retirement. Sharma claimed that the Project Helix console will "lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games." Sharma also confirmed that Project Helix would be discussed at this month's Game Developers Conference, or GDC 2026.

As Xbox shifts its hardware strategy, a lot of players are feeling left behind, but there could be at least one strong, albeit bizarre, upside.
