In April 1986 the nuclear reactor of the Chernobyl power plant failed a safety test, and that part of Ukraine is still, to this day, one of the most radioactive places on Earth. Which, admitted, means tourism is strictly regulated rather than "Beware the mutants!", but that doesn't make for an exciting videogame. In Chernobylite the exclusion zone was being overrun by Shadows chasing after a unique material appearing in the area, and they weren't at all friendly to humans. Meanwhile a plant worker was visiting the zone to find his lost wife, and then things just got stranger from there.

Chernobylite was a first-person adventure survival horror game from 2021 that was well received at the time, and now its legacy lives on in pinball form.
