First released way back in 2000, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica tells the story of brother and sister duo Chris and Claire Redfield as they attempt to survive a viral outbreak in a remote prison in the Southern Ocean as well as a research facility in Antarctica. Set three months after the events of Resident Evil 2 and the destruction of Raccoon City, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica did not initially sell as well as previous Resident Evil entries, but it soon received critical acclaim and is now regarded as one of the best in the long-running Capcom franchise.
However, despite a revised version in 2001 titled Code: Veronica X and a high-definition remastered version in 2011, Code: Veronica X, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica is yet to receive an official remake over two decades on, and that is not through lack of trying by its dedicated fanbase.
