The Red Dead Redemption series is likely to be on ice for a little while, given just how massive and crucial the successful launch of GTA VI will be for Rockstar and its future. That said, the first two games in the series were huge for the developer in their own right, so a return to the Wild West is likely at some point.

What exactly that is going to look like is another question entirely. The first game is actually the latest chronologically, taking place in 1911, when the Old West was essentially already a thing of the past. Red Dead Redemption 2 was a prequel to that, taking us back to 1899, and the dying days of cowboy culture.

That leaves a ton of options open for Rockstar as and when they do decide to really get to work on Red Dead Redemption 3, and there's one thing in particular that a lot of fans want to see.
