Red Dead Redemption 2 is, in the opinion of many, one of the best games ever made, and fans voted with their wallets, with the release selling over 82 million copies worldwide as of the start of 2026.
With all of Rockstar's focus inevitably on Grand Theft Auto VI for a long time to come yet, the idea of a sequel dropping in the next few years is probably pie in the sky.
That said, there's so much to do in RDR2 and Red Dead Online that we can keep ourselves occupied for a while, but it sure would be nice to have a new release regardless. One sliver of hope was the potential of a next-gen update that would thrust the game's visuals forward significantly, but it seems that might be a lot furher away than we initially predicted.
Over on Reddit, one user shared information from well-known leaker Kiki Talks, in which they predicted that the next-gen update for Red Dead Redemption 2 wouldn't be releasing until late 2027.
