The Electronic Gaming Development Company (EGDC), a Saudi-based investment firm, has acquired a significant stake in the Resident Evil and Street Fighter company, Capcom. A whopping 26,788,500 shares have been acquired for “pure investment purposes”, reported on March 13th by the Kanto Local Finance Bureau.
This accounts for 5.03% of the shares in addition to shares previously acquired not too long ago. Previously, the company has acquired 100% of the SNK stock in 2022. SNK being the makers behind Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters games.
As to how this will affect production and releases remains to be seen. For some, this could be the easier path to more potential collaboration between both companies SNK and Capcom....
