The announcement of Pokémon Winds and Waves as part of the franchise's 30th anniversary celebrations was met with genuine excitement from the community, with the game being our first look at Generation X and a new formula that looks quite different from the games we have had previously.
The game is set to launch at some point in 2027, probably towards the back half of the year, so there's still plenty we don't know about the offering as a whole. One key piece of information that we do have is the three new starter Pokémon, which were revealed at the same time as the game.
Browt, Gecqua and Pombon represent the Grass, Water and Fire-type choices respectively, and they all look absolutely adorable, slotting into the existing Pokédex pretty seamlessly. Pombon probably serves as the pick of the bunch in terms of its design, but fans have one major request for Game Freak for its final evolution.
Over on Reddit, fans have been heavily calling on Game Freak to make sure that the final evolution for Pombon remains on all fours, rather than leaning towards a humanoid design that we've seen used several times in the past.
