The mantra of the Pokémon series, outside of remakes, is to generally move on to the next Generation. It's been a while since we've visited the Hoenn region, even if you account for the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes, which are over 10 years old at this point.

That changes, though, with Pokémon Eternal Emerald. As spotted on X by Pokémon Fangame News, this massive project is arguably the ultimate version of the Hoenn region.

Released in 2005 outside of Japan, Pokémon Emerald is the "third version" follow-up to 2003's Ruby and Sapphire. It's regarded as one of the best single Pokémon entries of all time, and is utterly packed with things to do. Eternal Emerald is somehow even more feature-heavy.

In short, it features over 900 Pokémon, contains a story inspired by Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, features new "sound-type" Pokémon, with 100+ Megas, Z-Moves, an organization called Team Sky, the ability for Pokémon to follow you, and additional modes and outfits.Eternal Emerald also features new Megas, including Mega Rampardos and Mega Jumpluff.
