The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI is dominating all conversations right now, and understandably so, as fans wait in the wings to finally see what Rockstar Games has been cooking up over all this time.
Assuming we don't get any more delays, that game is set to launch in November of this year, so we've still got 8 months to fill elsewhere, at the time of writing. If you're exclusively a fan of the franchise, then GTA Online is probably the most obvious way to do that, but this gap serves as the ideal opportunity to return to the older games, which still offer a very good time.
GTA IV remains an absolute peak for the series as a whole, as beloved protagonist Niko Bellic tears a path across Liberty City. Though the game looked brilliant at the time, and still looks pretty solid in 2026, it could do with a bit of a visual refresh, and if you've got an RTX graphics card, you can thrust the aesthetics forward in a very big way.
