A week out from the release of its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Super Mario Bros. Wonder has just received a new update across both Nintendo Switch systems. First released in 2023, Super Mario Bros. Wonder was the first side-scrolling 2D Mario platformer following the New Super Mario Bros. subseries. This new game reinvented the style of one of gaming’s longest-running franchises, bringing with it clever new additions like the Elephant Mario power-up and the level-bending Wonder Flower effects.
Upon release, Super Mario Bros. Wonder received widespread praise and went on to become the fastest-selling entry in the Super Mario franchise to date with over four million copies sold in its first two weeks. With over 16 million units sold, the title proved to be a huge success as a game released relatively late in the Nintendo Switch’s life cycle. Nintendo looks to build on its success very soon, with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition bringing a new set of content known as Meetup in Bellabel Park, which adds even more multiplayer hijinks to the base game.
