The ninth mainline Resident Evil game, Resident Evil Requiem, is not even a month old yet, but there's already an abundance of enticing rumors and alleged leaks regarding what the future may hold for the survival horror/action franchise. Specifically, a brand-new remake of Resident Evil 1 might be on the way. Rumors and leaks are all these are, as no official announcements or confirmations have been made, but they're not manifesting from thin air or coming from untrustworthy sources.
On Twitter/X, user Stiviwonder — whose recent DLC-related leak was corroborated by fellow leaker Dusk Golem — has given their two cents on the Resident Evil 1 remake rumor, stating that a Resident Evil 1 remake has “been in pre-production since 2022-23.” If true, it might not be a ridiculously long time before the second Resident Evil 1 remake sees the light of day, though it is unlikely to be the next remake that fans receive either way.
Taking any Resident Evil rumor or leak with however many grains of salt are necessary, it is possible that not only is a new Resident Evil 1 remake in development, but that it has been in development since at least 2022,...
