Dragon Age: The Veilguard Has The Most "Complex" Companions Yet, Says BioWare

Dragon Age: The Veilguard's characters are the most "fully realized complex companions" in series history. That is according to game director Corinne Busche, who says that the companions are more "fleshed out" than previous party members.

This comes from the latest interview with Game Informer, who spoke with several key Dragon Age developers about The Veilguard. Here, the game director says that she feels that the new companions are an improvement on previous games, suggesting that they will have more agency this time around.

"As much as I adore the companions and the journeys I've been on with them in past Dragon Age titles – previously, it feels like companions are going on an adventure with me, the main character, whether it's the Hero of Ferelden or Hawke, you name it," says Busche. "But in [Veilguard], in many ways, the companions are so fleshed out that it feels as though I'm going on a journey with them.

"I'm exploring how they think and feel; I'm helping them through their problems. We're working through their unique character arcs. They feel like my dear friends, and I absolutely adore them."
