Rumored to be the next Assassin's Creed installment following 2025's Assassin's Creed Shadows, Hexe remains shrouded in darkness, and with fans speculating that it may not launch until at least 2027, what does this mean for the future of the beloved Ubisoft franchise?

Set to be a much darker and more linear entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise, Assassin's Creed Hexe will reportedly take us to 16th-century Germany during the Holy Roman Empire's famous witch trials. Featuring a more RPG-heavy playstyle and stealth-focused gameplay, rumors suggest that a single female protagonist called Elsa will lead the story as she battles with her own supernatural abilities and a battle against her persecutors.

However, last month saw industry insider Tom Henderson share an update on Assassin's Creed Hexe's development, revealing that Ubisoft are "redoing" the game's combat, even going as far as to hire a contortionist for the motion capture, with the game's combat reportedly featuring an acrobat-esque style. Henderson also revealed that Ezio would make an appearance, serving as a teacher for Elsa, and last but not least, Assassin's Creed Hexe is planned to launch in the holiday of 2027.
