You know, we’ve covered a number of game companies either laying off employees or seemingly dropping off the face of the earth, and sadly, today is another one of those days. Over on Linkedin, Eidos-Montreal has announced a reduction in its workforce, impacting 124 employees across both production and support teams. Alongside this news, Head of Studio David Anfossi will also be departing the company after several years in the role.
According to the studio, the layoffs are the result of “changing project needs” and a broader effort to refocus where the team can be most effective. The company also stated that this decision is not a reflection of the impacted employees’ talent or performance, and that supporting those affected remains a top priority.
The studio confirmed that a transition plan is currently underway as it prepares to name new leadership following Anfossi’s departure. Today, however, the focus remains on supporting those who have been impacted.
The sad part about all of this is that this is the same studio that had been working alongside Playground Games on Fable as the support studio, which is one of the more anticipated RPG revivals in recent memory, as well as Grounded...
