First released back in 1998, the Spyro the Dragon franchise has become one of the most recognizable in video game history. Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, the first game in the platform game follows the iconic purple dragon and his dragonfly friend, Sparx, as they journey across Dragon Kingdom to defeat Gnasty Gnorc. Becoming a well-known PlayStation mascot alongside the likes of Crash Bandicoot, Spyro welcomed two sequels in 1999 and 2000 respectively, before Insomniac Games gave up the rights to the IP shortly after.
However, Spyro Reiginited Trilogy arrived in 2018, remaking the original trilogy and bringing our favorite purple dragon back to the forefront of the video game sphere. Now, eight years on, and it seems as though the iconic mascot is back once more.
