26 years ago, Diablo cemented its reputation with gamers with one of the greatest video games of all time. The world welcomed Diablo II to shelves at the turn of the millennium, returning to the world of Sanctuary as a demonic army threatens the world yet again. Now, after almost 30 years of waiting, Diablo II is eyeing an ambitious remake. A brand-new look at the project is now live, and the Unreal Engine project already has Diablo fans buzzing.

As shared on Dark Side of Gaming, Diablo II is piecing together a fan-made remake using Unreal Engine 5. The unofficial project surfaced in early 2026 on YouTube, and now, two new videos have come to light that detail the remake. In the first clip, fans are taken through The Forgotten Tower, and the region is given a crisp new render in Unreal Engine. As for the second video, gamers are united with a familiar face as Butcher from the original Diablo game surfaces, teasing fans with an ambitious character design.
