According to a new leak from Shpeshal Nick, Nintendo could be working on a brand-new Luigi's Mansion game for the Nintendo Switch 2. The same leaker has also claimed that a Luigi's Mansion movie is being pitched at Nintendo, and that a new Luigi's Mansion Amiibo is currently in the works.
The Luigi's Mansion series made its debut all the way back in 2001 as a Nintendo GameCube exclusive. This spectral Super Mario spinoff saw players assume the role of the green-colored plumber as he clears a mansion of its ghostly inhabitants. Though the series didn't debut to universal acclaim, it quickly became the GameCube's most successful launch title. Luigi's Mansion eventually received a sequel in 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS, which generally performed much better with critics, and in 2019 the third Luigi's Mansion entry hit the Nintendo Switch. This most recent Luigi's Mansion title earned an impressive Top Critic Average of 85 on OpenCritic, and as of March 2024, it's believed to have sold over 14 million copies.
Charlie Day, the voice of Luigi in The Super Mario Bros. Movie series, is excited about the possibility of a Luigi's Mansion movie spin-off.
