Pokémon is on an absolute tear this year. It's going to break the TCG market once the 30th Anniversary set comes out, and Pokémon Champions is finally here, giving us a taste of what to expect from the competitive scene in 2026.
But over on X, fans aren't so sure about a recent update. Some are even getting increasingly concerned about what Winds & Waves will have in store for us.
Kicked off by a post from Centro Leaks, fans are concerned about the future framerates of Pokémon games, starting with Champions: "Pokémon Champions runs at 30 FPS even on Switch 2. Considering the Pokémon Winds and Waves trailer was also 30 FPS... RIP Pokémon 60 FPS era 2025-2025, it was fun while it lasted."
"2025" refers to the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which saw an enhanced 60 FPS framerate on Switch 2 (and 30 FPS on Switch 1). Fans were hoping that, since Pokémon Champions technically already has a Switch 2 update, it would be up to par. But so far, it seems to be set to 30 FPS.
