While its commercial momentum is tracking behind its predecessor, Planet Coaster 2 debuted to comparably favorable reviews, as underlined by its "Strong" OpenCritic rating, based on 50 reviews with an average score of 78 and an 85% recommendation rate. It has also amassed over 7,500 Steam user reviews, 71% of which are positive, as of April 2026. Those two data points combined make Planet Coaster 2 one of the best-received modern rollercoaster tycoon games.
