When Half-Life came out in 1998, it made a gigantic splash, and the ripple effects are still being felt to this day. I remember its release and how excited the PC community was for this landmark narrative FPS. Folks are waiting for Half-Life 3 for a reason: this franchise made an impact right out of the gate. While there were similar games before it, it helped propel the subgenre into the stratosphere in short order.
