Launching back in 2022 as the first installments in the ninth generation of Pokémon, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet takes players to the Paldea Region, and unlike previous Pokémon entries, this one included the first use of a vast open world map. Alongside the introduction of over 120+ brand-new Pokémon, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also added two new regional forms as well as time-displaced creatures known as Paradox Pokémon. Additionally, it also introduced the Terastal phenomenon, allowing Pokémon to transform into a brand-new "Tera Type".
Upon its launch, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was met with mixed reviews, earning itself an average score by critics and the audience alike. However, it still went on to become Nintendo's biggest launch of all time, racking up an impressive 10 million copies sold in just the first three days.
