PlayStation 5 gamers that want a free game need to claim the console's latest freebie by April 13. While PC gamers are treated to free games all the time, the same can't be said for console gamers. Most of the time, any "free" games given away on consoles like PS5 and Xbox actually require a subscription service, and so aren't truly free games.
There have been times when games have been given away for free on PS5 in the past, though. One notable example is during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Sony launched the Play at Home initiative. The first wave of Play at Home games consisted of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey, while the second wave included Abzu, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Enter the Gungeon, Moss, Paper Beast, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, The Witness, and Thumper, along with the 2016 Ratchet & Clank game and Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition.
