At last, Xbox is ready to make amends after flubbing the release of a best-selling accessory. If you look back to December 2025, you may remember the incident in question. During that time, social media lit up with fans bemoaning the arrival of their new Xbox Wireless Controllers as some of the items weren't shipped with everything expected. Now, Xbox is officially apologizing for the gaff with a free fix.

If you head over to Xbox's Support website, you can find all the details here. The company is offering a free battery replacement for fans who bought Xbox Wireless Controllers last December and never received the proper batteries.

"If you purchased an Xbox Wireless Controller from the Microsoft Store, Xbox Design Lab, or a third‑party retailer in December 2025 or later, and the package didn’t include AA batteries, you may be eligible to receive an Xbox Rechargeable Battery + USB‑C Cable," Xbox Support confirmed, detailing the steps to check eligibility for the free replacement.
