Xbox gamers don't often have free games to claim that do not require Xbox Game Pass or another subscription, but there is one to claim right now. Xbox gamers used to get "free" games as part of their Xbox Live Gold subscriptions, but that program was phased out in favor of Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass doesn't give away free games that users can keep forever, but instead it features a rotating selection of titles ala something like Netflix.
Xbox Game Pass features hundreds of titles and if you are willing to sign up for the Ultimate or PC tiers, you can get day one games as well. For many, Xbox Game Pass provides a much greater value compared to something like the free games with Gold, but it's still nice to get a freebie that you can call yours indefinitely. Luckily, one such free game is being given away right now, but Xbox gamers interested in claiming it for their digital libraries are running out of time to do so.
