The highly anticipated Fable reboot being developed by Playground Games could be facing another delay, potentially pushing the game into 2027 if a recent rumor is to be believed. While nothing is yet official, the news is likely to disappoint fans and the already lengthy wait they've had to endure for the next Fable game. The franchise itself has certainly experienced hardship after the release of Fable 3 and the eventual closure of Lionhead Studios.
Following the cancellation of Fable Legends in 2016, the franchise as a whole entered a period of dormancy, with longtime fans wondering if the series would ever make a comeback. To the surprise of most, a newly rebooted Fable was announced back in 2020 by Forza Horizon studio, Playground Games. Since that point, it would be another 3 years until the first gameplay-centric trailer was revealed in 2023, with multiple delays ultimately continuing to push the release date further down the road.
