Elder Scrolls Fan Spots a Cat Named M'aiq the Liar at a Pet Store

The Elder Scrolls is one of the most popular fantasy RPG franchises in gaming, and the name of an adorable cat at one fan's local pet store is paying homage to the series. It has been 15 years since the last main entry in The Elder Scrolls series was released, but this cat is a fun example of just how influential the franchise has continued to be despite no new release in over a decade.

Bethesda's latest venture has been its sci-fi tale Starfield, but a lot of the developer's fans have had their eyes mostly set on The Elder Scrolls and its future. Gamers have been waiting for more Elder Scrolls 6 news since 2018 when the first and only trailer for the game was revealed at the now-defunct E3 convention. With no official announcement in sight, many longtime fans have still remained loyal to spending hours in Skyrim or experiencing a refreshed version of Oblivion via last year's remaster. Some fans are even apparently naming cats after series staple characters.

If Bethesda plans to update its roster of playable races, then one particularly intriguing fantasy race should be brought into the fray.
