Starfield Hotfix for PS5 Issues Coming This Week

Starfield developer Bestheda Game Studios has responded to the ongoing PS5 crash issues with the open-world sci-fi game and narrowed down when PS5 owners can expect these issues to be fixed. Starfield coming to PS5 wasn't a big surprise, given Microsoft's recent pivot into more of a third-party publisher, but many fans were surprised by the state of the game.

As fans know, Starfield was initially positioned as an Xbox/PC exclusive after Microsoft acquired Bethesda, or at the very least, that seemed to be Microsoft's strategy as it tried to strengthen Xbox's lineup of games. Microsoft pivoted away from strict exclusivity over time, however, toward a broader multiplatform approach and prioritized reaching more players and increasing revenue instead. By 2026, that strategy shift led to Starfield coming to PS5 after roughly three years of Xbox exclusivity, reflecting a wider trend of former Xbox exclusives expanding to other platforms.
