Metro 2033 Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over This Cancelled Exodus Sequel

After the critically acclaimed release of Metro Exodus, fans have been patiently waiting for any updates on the next mainline entry in the franchise for over 7 years. While we're finally getting our first glimpse of Metro Exodus' sequel this week, ahead of PlayStation's rumored State of Play, a recent leak suggests we could havebeen playing a completely different version of the game years ago.

Originally leaked on Discord, TheGameVerse on X gathered several details about the canceled fourth Metro project that have been circulating on Reddit, which fans have been praising for being much closer to the style of the original Metro games rather than the "Fallout-esque Exodus we got."

Although Metro Exodus has technically already got a sequel in the form of the brutal Metro Awakening VR game, the latest leak proposes that the next game will be a prequel set either before or after the events of Metro: Last Light, where you play as Hunter from the original Metro 2033 rather than Artyom.
