The main Pokémon series has been through some notable ups and downs in recent years, as developer Game Freak does their best to evolve the formula that made them so successful in the first place. At the same time, there's only so many releases that they can feasibly bring us, leaving a lot of downtime when we're done with the most recent effort.
The best way to fill those gaps in content is by enjoying the work of the community, who continue to push out ROM hacks and entirely original creations made in engines like RPG Maker. Now, a new effort is set to release later this month, and it could be one of the most ambitious we have seen to date.
Over on Twitter/X, Pokémon Fangame News shared the news that Pokémon Solar Eclipse is set to release on April 24. If you aren't familiar with the project, it takes place in an entirely custom region (Solaria) with an original story that you won't have seen in any of the other official games.
